A house on a nine-hectare lot in Bansud, Oriental Mindoro, set low and long across open ground.

The project

The house sits low against a very large, flat site. Two pitched roof planes are set against one another over a single-storey plan, with deep eaves carried out over the glazing. On a lot this size there is nothing to build up against, so the orientation comes from the sun and the prevailing wind rather than from neighbours.

The finished house is shown first. The construction photographs below it are kept because a nine-hectare provincial site is a different job from a city one, and the sequence shows how it was actually put together.
