An infusion centre in Alabang, fitted out so that patients sitting through long treatments are in something closer to a lounge than a ward.
The project
OPAT treatment means coming in for intravenous medicine and going home the same day, so the room people spend the longest in is not a consulting room but the infusion bay. It runs along one side of the unit as an open bay of reclining chairs, each with its own curtain track so a station can be closed off without building a cubicle.
The bay is carpeted while the circulation beside it is laid in timber-look plank, which separates the two zones underfoot rather than with a partition — useful in eighty square metres, where every wall costs floor area. Consultation and desk space sit opposite behind glazed screens with frosted banding, so daylight from the shopfront carries to the back of the unit.
At the entrance a grey panel framed in dark timber boarding carries the practice's illuminated mark, and warm timber returns on the bay wall to keep a clinical room from reading as one.
